CALL TO ACTION: Demand Immediate Supervision for Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board!

CALL TO ACTION: Demand Immediate Supervision for Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board!

Parents of Black Children Canada (PoBC) is demanding urgent action from the Ontario Ministry of Education and the removal of DPCDSB leadership to protect Black students.

For years, Black students and their families in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) have faced systemic racism, violence, and neglect—while the Ontario Ministry of Education remains silent.

We say: Enough.
We are demanding immediate intervention to protect Black children and dismantle the systems that harm them.

📉 71 documented cases of anti-Black racism
🧠 40 % students with exceptionalities & neurological differences
⚖️ 12 legal cases filed + 15 more in progress
📩 DPCDSB refuses to meet live—even following a violent police assault of a Black student

This is not just about misconduct—it is a pattern of racial violence and systemic neglect.

We Are Demanding:

  • The immediate removal of Director Marianne Mazzorato and her senior leadership team.

  • Provincial intervention and oversight by the Minister of Education.

  • An independent review of DPCDSB’s practices around discipline, hiring, and school safety.

  • Immediate implementation of anti-racism accountability measures

We have waited long enough. The Ministry’s silence continues to endanger Black students.

Real Stories. Real Harm.

The harm is widespread, and the leadership is complicit:

  • Director Marianne Mazzorato used a racial slur during a PoBC call to describe South Asian people.

  • In over 50 years, DPCDSB has never had a Black superintendent.

  • DPCDSB leads the province in suspensions and expulsions of Black students.

  • Police have been called on Black students as young as six years old.

  • A Vice Principal emailed racist descriptions of Black students to guidance staff.

  • A Black mother was called “vulgar and abusive” by Director Mazzorato after raising concerns about racism—while racist educators remain protected.

  • A Grade 1 neurodivergent Black girl was assaulted by older boys; the school took no action.

Real Stories. Real Harm:

📍 A 13-year-old Black student with neurological differences was physically attacked at school. The school administration refused to do anything about this incident, despite parents expressing concern.

📍 An 11-year-old was called the N-word by classmates — School leadership’s only action was to have perpetrators to “copy apologies” on paper and failed to properly address the continued racial bullying.

📍 A teacher-turned-advocate described years of bullying and ignored policies at St. Aidan’s, while being forced to console crying Black mothers as their children were punished for defending themselves.

📍 A youth officer brutally assaulted three Black girls at school. While a Black student suffered a concussion and seizure after being thrown to the ground and arrested. The school had the footage—and still painted her as the villain.

📍 A school administrator, has been accused of harassing a Black student for five years, locking him in an office, denying parental contact, and suspending him unfairly. Three meetings with the superintendent have led to no action.

📍 One family was targeted by teachers who used historical academic records to paint a damaging and inaccurate image of their son, while denying them access to the official student file.

📍 A Black girl was physically assaulted at school while teachers and students stood by and filmed instead of intervening.

These are only a few of the documented stories. There are many more.

We are demanding justice, for our children, our families, for Black futures.
